SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Donnie Eugene Kicklighter, Sr., 75, of Savannah, Georgia, widower of Karen Williamson Kicklighter, died Friday afternoon, January 29, 2010, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Born in Blackshear, Georgia, he was a son of the late Henry Estus Kicklighter and the late Essie Ruth Williams Kicklighter. He was a United States Army veteran. Mr. Kicklighter was of the Baptist faith and was a retired operating engineer with Berkle engineering. He enjoyed fishing and sports in general but his biggest love was his family.
Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl K. Scholle and her husband, Craig, of Richmond Hill, Georgia, Kimberly J. Herring of Savannah, Georgia; one son, Donnie E. Kicklighter, Jr., and his wife, Dawn, of Richmond Hill, Georgia; one brother, Harry Kicklighter, Sr., and his wife, Faye, of Savannah, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Emily, Katie and Hunter Scholle, Jason Fries and his wife, Diana, Sean and Brandy Kicklighter; two great grand children, Kimber Fries and Shealeigh Kicklighter.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Monday evening at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Peter J. Hartmann. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
