Donald Franklin. Sharpe. 88. Died at his home, Monday, January 8, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born October 30, 1935, in Quincy, Florida to the late Sam and Bessie Sharpe. He retired in 1990, after 27 years of dedicated service from National Wire of Georgia.
Donald was an avid outdoorsman who loved, fishing, hunting and his beloved Atlanta Braves. He is well known for growing some of the best tomatoes in Savannah.
Beside his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Wood Sharpe, three sisters, Louise Wilson, Eloise Hillard and Marsha Pugh and two brothers, Bill Sharpe and Ray Sharpe.
Surviving are: two daughters, Donna Jean Sharpe and Cindi (Chris Scalisi) Butts; a son, Randy (Barbara) Sharpe; two grandchildren, Jospeh (Carol) Butts and Emily (Justin) Chapman; six great-grandchildren, Harper, Cayden, Briley, Bill, Asher and Charlie, one brother, Ted Sharpe.
The family will receive friend’s at 9 o’clock Thursday morning at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Ave., Savannah

Donald’s funeral will follow in the funeral home chapel at 10 o’clock. Bobby Hanson will be officiating. Interment will be in Greenwich Cemetery, Savannah.
