SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Denise Lynn Whittier, 56, of Savannah, Georgia died Monday afternoon, August 27.
Born in Lubbock, Texas, she was a daughter of Gussie Weisberg Whittier and the late Alton Harry Whittier. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Cherie Whittier. Denise attended Congregation Bnai Brith Jacob. She served in the United States Air Force. Denise was a volunteer in the community, serving with The Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels, Goodwill Industries and The Humane Society for Greater Savannah.
Surviving are her mother, Gussie Weisberg Whittier of Savannah, Georgia; sister, Tina Whittier of Savannah, Georgia; Aunt, Tillie James of Largo, Florida; cousins, David James of Seminole, Florida, Joan James of Buffalo, New York, Leah James of St. Petersburg, Florida, Allison Joskowitz of Brampton, Ontario, Canada, Lori James of Pass-A-Grill, Florida, Susan Whittier and Nancy Whittier both of Charleston, South Carolina.
The funeral service will be held at 10 o\'clock Thursday morning at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by Rabbi Avigdor Slatus.
