Dawn Margaret Nickel

Dawn Margaret Nickel passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family. She was the daughter of the late John Richard Nickel and the late Gail Joan Jones. Born into the military life, she moved around, both in the U.S. and Europe, and was able to experience different cultures. Settling in Clarksville, TN to finish school. She moved to Savannah hoping to attend SCAD and build upon her self taught painting skills. Although she was unable to attend, she continued to improve her skills and became an excellent artist. She enjoyed traveling through the mountains, stopping off along the way to take pictures of scenery for her painting ideas, camping, horseback riding, and spending time with family and friends. Dawn was loved by many and loved her family and friends. She will be truly missed.

Dawn is survived by her husband Calvin Riggins, Jr, siblings John Nickel (Brenda), Terri Janssen, son Cody Nickel (Alyssa), stepchildren Calvin Riggins, III (Anna), Dale Riggins (Chancey), Ashley Draper (Zack), and 8 grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Southwest Baptist Church, 831 Little Neck Rd. Savannah GA 31419.
