David G. Walsh passed on October 17, 2024, at home from a failing heart. Dave was born Dec. 31, 1937, in Highland Park, MI and moved to West Branch, Mi with his family as a 5 year old. He graduated from West Branch High in 1956 and lettered in football, basketball, and tennis for West Branch High. He was most proud of his 1956 basketball team which won regional championship that year.
Dave joined the Air Force and spent his time in Japan as a top secret crypto operator. He returned to West Branch and worked with his father in the family hotel business with intent to take over its management. Instead, his Air Force experience drew him to attend Weaver airline school and begin a 31 year career with Delta Air Lines and retired at 55. Dave and Ruthann traveled extensively, including West Branch High class reunions, from their current home in Savannah, GA. Dave made friends wherever he was; he loved to play poker and euchre with dear friends, feed and care for all sorts of homeless creatures, and help out anyone in need.
Dave married Ruthann Thumme Walsh in 1964—they met in West Branch as 16 and 14 year old's—and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. Besides his wife, Dave leaves his three sons, Rand and Marika of Talbott, TN, David R. and Tammy of Minneola, FL, and Scott Paul of Savannah, GA;, plus grandchildren, Joseph B. and Ashley Walsh and great grandchildren, Uriah and Melody Walsh.
.
He leaves behind a myriad of friends, and a life full of happiness, joy, adventure, kindness, compassion, and great love.
