Daphne (Dolly) Anabelle Mangroo, 68, of Port Chester New York, passed away on March 11th, 2022, at Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital, New York.
Her battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed her strength and courage in facing life challenges with grace and a smile. Despite it all Dolly stayed strong until the end.
She was born on December 11, 1953, in the Island of Trinidad, West Indies to Lyder and Janet Mungroo. There she was educated at Trinidad Catholic High School and went on to Business College. She moved to New York in 1989.
Dolly adored life, loved her family, especially her mom. She was devoted to her church and her church family. She was loved by everyone she met. She is described by her friends, coworkers and neighbors as the most caring and kind person they knew. She was always willing to help someone in need.?? She worked in the fashion industry for many years at Nine West, Jones Apparel, and Fit Flop USA in New York. When she was not working, she loved to travel, visiting her friends and family in Trinidad and her beloved older sister in Savannah GA.?? She loved spoiling her many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews and tried her best to be present for all family occasions. She was a member of the Assembly of God World Vision Ministries and was ordained as a Chaplain at the New York State Federation of Chaplains.
She was preceded in death by her dad, Lyder Mungroo; her mother, Janet Mungroo; and her brother Isaac Mungroo.
Dolly is survived by her sister, Gloria Joyce Gosyne; brother, Michael Mungroo; brother, Ralph Mungroo; brother, Joseph Mungroo and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 18th 2022,?? at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 18, 2022, in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service. Burial will be in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
