Daniel Weitman Deloach

d. January 29, 2017

Daniel Weitman DeLoach, 30, died at home on January 29th with his mother and father at his side. After a heroic effort by no less than seven 1st responders, he made it to Memorial Hospital but little could be done. He was enjoying his favorite show in his newly completed private home hospital room generously constructed by the very people that had witnessed him overcome many battles he faced in his short life. Daniel is survived by his parents, Mike and Julia DeLoach, his sister, Kathleen Benton, brother, Michael DeLoach, brother in law, Rex Benton, sister in law, Sara Eve DeLoach, and his adored nieces and nephews, Julia Grace, Jack and Andrew Benton, and Jack and Bailey Terry.

Born January 14th, 1987 with a rare condition call Proteus Syndrome, Daniel's parents were told he would not live, and then later would not walk. With strength and courage he mainstreamed through Blessed Sacrament School and was always loved and protected by his many friends over his lifetime.

From Blessed Sacrament he went on to Benedictine Military School, still keeping his close childhood friends and making new ones daily. BC was his fraternity and he always thought he was a 'BC Badaxx'.

Daniel went on to SCAD University and received a Bachelor in Industrial design. Most fellow students and Professors thought he was just a talkative student with too many questions. They had no way of realizing that carrying a 40 pound backpack full of books to get to class was an accomplishment in itself for Daniel.

Throughout his schooling and day to day activity he always smiled, would correct you if you were wrong, and mince no words about it.

He blew a kidney and would have died but had a battery of Savannah's finest Physicians and came off an incubator only to take a deep breath and carry on with that 'Kickaxx additude' and move forward. Daniel went back to SCAD finished his studies with a passion to learn.

Two years later he developed pulmonary hypertension and could not breathe without oxygen. After bypassing death by shear will and with the aid of fine physicians, he was able to make a trip to California, visiting his brother six months later.

God tested him time and time again. He withstood over a hundred operations at last count and always came back stronger, wiser and with the desire to help search for the solution to his illness.

Always being concerned for others, his last act when he was able to drive was to convince his aid that he had to help a blind lady in the doctor's office at the same time by offering her a ride home. That they did, from Whitemarsh Island to Port Wentworth.?? There is no better man we will ever have the gracious gift to know and be a part of our lives.?? We Love You DanO. We know you have God's ear so keep us all in mind.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o\'clock Friday, February 3, 2017, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with the Rosary to follow at 7 o\'clock.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 o\'clock Saturday morning at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. Interment will be at 12 noon at Hillcrest Abbey - East.
