Obituary for Daniel (Dann) Moragne Bunn
The Bunn Family is saddened to announce that Daniel (Dann) Moragne Bunn, age 78, died peacefully at Hospice House on March 3, 2023. Dann was born August 5, 1944, in Augusta, GA, to Gerald and Mildred Moragne Bunn. He lived most of his younger life on a farm with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A.L. (Big Daddy) and Gladys (Big Mother) Talbert Moragne in Augusta, learning the arts of storytelling, animal care, and pig riding.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, his brother Dr. Gerald T. Bunn.
He is survived by his wife, Christina Moody Bunn; his daughter, Kathryne Bunn Elliott; his sons Charles T. Bunn and Alexis E. Daglis; grandchildren Jay Elliott, Drew Elliott, Erika Gervin (William); great-grandchildren Drennon, Kimpton, and Lochlan Gervin; nieces Alexis Lane (Anna Lee HeidtHarris) and Sophia Morekis, Susan Bunn Rosen (Paul E. Rosen), Carol Bunn Simpson; nephews Lee Moragne Bunn and Tracy Marshall Bunn; brother-in-law James J. Morekis (Alice Clifton-Morekis) and sister-in-law Vivien Marshall Bunn.
Dann graduated from Richmond Academy High School in Augusta, then attended Georgia Southern and finished at Southern Tech and Georgia Tech in Civil Engineering Technology. He worked in the paving and road building business most of his life. Dann’s bravery, compassion, generosity of spirit, sense of humor, and deep wisdom as he faced death was very inspiring. Dann was one of the last direct links to the original 'Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil' crowd, many of whom he will now join at that great 1790 happy hour in the sky. He gave decades of happiness to his wife as her travel companion, ballet and ice skating enthusiast, and soul mate. He was a devout Harley Davidson and Mini Cooper fan, owning several of each over the years. An Augusta GA native who married into a large Greek family, in some ways he was more Greek than the Greeks, with his gregarious love of life, sense of spontaneity, and ready laugh. Dann was a talented musician, and his claim to fame in that field was playing in one of Ronnie Milsap’s early bands. Though a proud Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket and a Hell of an Engineer, Dann happily assimilated into his extended University of Georgia family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 o'clock Saturday morning, June 10, 2023 in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
