Dana Martin Tyson, 61, of Fleming, Georgia, passed away suddenly Monday, April 24, 2023 at home.
He was born in Savannah but had been a long time resident of Fleming, Georgia.
He had worked on tugboats, which he absolutely loved, for several years until his health issues forced him to retire early. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
He had a passionate love of cooking, camping, and fishing, (of which he had the Midas touch and always got the fish). But his #1 love was Dolly, his chihuahua. She was more of a child and not a pet to him.
Long time close friends, Barry and Beverly Lewis kept watch on him for many years. They were there for him any time of day or night. They are thought of as his second family as well as ours.
He is survived by his parents, Tim and Ann Tyson of Savannah; a brother, Michael Tyson of Rincon; nephew and niece, Christopher and Victoria Roth of Savannah, as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jimmy Lee and Elba Kay Tyson of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; his maternal grandparents, Asbury T. and Lena Vallie Barnes of Savannah, and most recently, two months ago, his baby sister, Patricia Roth of Savannah.
He would get tickled when people said he looked like country singer Hank Williams. Had the look but not the money!
He is loved and will be sadly and greatly missed.
His final farewell will be private with his family.
