Cree Elizabeth Meyer née Kelly, known to her friends as “Kelly” passed away on March 1st at the age of 75 years in Savannah. Kelly was born in 1948 in the District of Columbia and was adopted immediately by Charles and Georgia Kelly. Kelly spent her early years growing up in Maryland until her family relocated back to Tybee Island in 1962 to be closer to family.
Kelly was a fixture in the Tybee Island and Savannah Community having worked for Sanders
Construction Company and Idlewild Daycare for many years. Kelly loved children and always knew the perfect gift to brighten a child’s day.
Kelly loved animals, English Mastiff’s above all. She bred, showed, and rescued English Mastiff’s for decades. She was active in the Mastiff Club of America, Southern States Mastiff Fanciers, Southern States Mastiff Rescue and President of the Savannah Kennel Club for 20 years.
Kelly was proceeded in death by her beloved husband Don Louis Meyer Jr in 2007 and is survived by her brother and sister-in-law John & Georgia Kelly of Beaverton Oregon, nephew, niece and great-nephews and many cherished friends throughout Savannah, the South and the Mastiff community throughout the Country.
A graveside service will be held at 1 PM on Sunday May 5th at the Cooper family plot in Laurel Grove North Cemetery.
