SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - CMSgt Richard "Dick" Raymond Stumpf, U. S. Air Force (Ret.), 75, of Savannah, Georgia, husband of Ann Frances Agonofski Stumpf, died Tuesday afternoon, December 29, 2009, at his home under the care of Hospice Savannah.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Anthony Stumpf and the late Virginia Seng Stumpf. Dick retired as a Chief Master Sergeant in aircraft maintenance after 42 years of service with the United States Air Force and the 165th Airlift Wing, Georgia Air National Guard. He also served as Maintenance First Sergeant, and later as the 165th Wing Senior Enlisted Advisor. Dick later retired from the flight control systems division of Gulfstream. He was an active member of the Tri-County R/C Fliers, the Air Force Association and the Savannah Association of Flying Air National Guardsmen.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Ann Frances Agonofski Stumpf of Savannah, Georgia; one son, Dr. Don Stumpf and his wife, Dr. Robin Ellert, of Hinesville, Georgia; one granddaughter, Mystery Ellert; one sister, Barbara Pikutis and her husband, Frank, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; one brother, Norbert Stumpf of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; three nieces, Tasha Agonofski, Nicole Schaaf and April Peery; one great-niece, Kenlie Agonofski; two great-nephews, Nicholas Schaaf and Reid Schaaf, and three brothers-in-law, Anthony Agonofski, Joseph Agonofski and Thomas Owen.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Thursday at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service, with full military honors, will be held at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the graveside, Beaufort National Cemetery.
