SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Clyde Courtney Lunsford, Jr., 79, longtime resident of Senoia and Sharpsburg, Georgia, widower of Margaret Ann Sinclair Lunsford, died Wednesday Morning, July 27, 2011, at Savannah Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Born in Swainsboro, Georgia, he was a son of the late Clyde Courtney Lunsford, Sr. and the late Lucille Hayes Lunsford. Mr. Lunsford was a United States Navy veteran having served his country in the Korean Conflict. He graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in Engineering. Mr. Lunsford was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Newnan, Georgia, and was a retired Textile Engineer with Southern Mills.
Surviving are his daughter, Elizabeth Anne Lunsford of Guyton, Georgia; two sons, Clyde Courtney Lunsford III and his wife, Kaye, of Katy, Texas, and Edwin Sinclair Lunsford and his wife, Cheryl, of Gay, Georgia; two brothers, Jon Lunsford of Foley, Alabama, and T. Michael Lunsford of Darien, Georgia; one sister, Lucie Lunsford Tarvin of Brunswick, Georgia; five grandchildren, Stephen Bailey and his wife, Leah, of Savannah, Georgia, Lindsay, Taylor and Mason Lunsford of Katy, Texas, and Lizzy Lunsford of Fayetteville, Georgia; two great-grandchildren, Lily and Conner Bailey of Savannah, Georgia, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Friday morning at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Darien, Georgia conducted by The Reverend Ted H. Clarkson. Interment, with full military honors, will be in St. Andrews Cemetery.
