NEVILS COMMUNITY, GEORGIA - Clinton Lee "C. L." Futch, Sr., 83, of the Nevils Community and husband of Peggy Bragg Futch, died Friday morning, August 24, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born in Bulloch County, Georgia, he was a son of the late Henry Thomas Futch and Flossie George Futch. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, three brothers, and one grandson, Josh Lee. Mr. Futch was currently a member of Nevils United Methodist Church and for forty years, had been a member of Southside Baptist Church in Savannah. He served as a Sergeant in the Georgia National Guard. He owned and operated C. L. Futch Termite and Pest Control Service based in Savannah. After retirement, he enjoyed gardening and raising livestock.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Peggy Bragg Futch of the Nevils Community; one son, Clinton Lee Futch, Jr., of Savannah; four daughters, Elizabeth Brisson of Savannah, and Harriet Tapley, Sue Anderson and husband, Derrell, Sandy Blake and husband, Steve, all of the Nevils Community; one step-daughter, Cheryll Pricher of St. Petersburg, Florida; twelve grandchildren, one step-grandson, and sixteen great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Monday evening at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah.
The family will also receive friends from 11 until 12 o'clock Tuesday at Nevils United Methodist Church - 8351 Nevils-Groveland Road.
The funeral service will be held at 12 noon at Nevils United Methodist Church conducted by Reverend Reginald Blakewood, Pastor Ronald C. Johnson and Pastor Gregory L. Ely. Interment will be in Antioch Cemetery in Evans County.
Pallbearers will be Gary Futch, Derrick Futch, Randy Morris, Mike Williams, Heindrick Rogers, and Kent Britton.
