Clinton “Clint” Anderson Goodwin, 58, of Savannah, Georgia, and husband of Monica M. Goodwin, died Wednesday morning, November 1, 2023 at his home with his family at his side.
Clint was born in Conway, South Carolina, the son of Louis Goodwin and Ann Ward Goodwin, and he grew up in Surfside Beach, South Carolina.
Survivors include his wife, Monica M. Goodwin; his parents, Louis and Ann Goodwin; his son, William Goodwin; his daughter, Anna Goodwin; his stepdaughter, Laikin Dooley, (all of Savannah, Georgia); his mother-in-law, Kay Manly, of Midland, Texas; and many aunts, uncles and cousins in South Carolina.
Clint graduated from Socastee High School, class of 1983, where he played on the undefeated, 1982 South Carolina High School state champion tennis team. During his high school tennis career Clint never lost a regular season tennis match.
He then went to North Greenville Junior College where he was a starting member of their 1985 runner-up national junior college championship team. He then attended Francis Marion University where he also played and started for their men’s tennis team.
Clint was blessed with a brilliant mind in mathematics and computer science and it was at Francis Marion where he discovered his passion for computer coding and other computer technologies. He worked in many computer technology fields over his career with the highpoint being his self-owned company (that he started with his wife, Monica) that helped former college students saddled with high debt loads successfully manage and pay down their college student loans. Their company was the only Better Business Bureau A+ rated student loan debt management company in the nation.
Clint was an avid boater and fisherman, an excellent golfer, and an incredibly talented tennis player. He also spent many years teaching tennis to both adults and children and at one time he owned a tennis club in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina along with his best friend, Jamie Todt.
Clint was blessed with a wonderful and special sense of humor that always left those around him feeling better about life and in good spirits. It was a good thing he had a great sense of humor because he was also a dedicated University of South Carolina Gamecock football fan.
Far and away the most important thing in Clint’s life was his relationship with his Lord, Jesus Christ. He dedicated his life to Jesus for the last seven years of his life and it was in this time that he became his whole, true, wonderful self. He was filled with the Lord and Clint did not hold back in giving out this Love that was now within him.
His funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon, November 3, 2023, in the chapel of the Gamble Funeral Home with the service being conducted by Pastor, Stephen Saxton.
Clint will be greatly missed by all.
Gamble Funeral Service of Savannah is in charge of arrangements.
