Christine M. Ulmer, 89, of Savannah, Georgia and widow of Vernon Marion Ulmer, died Wednesday morning, February 19, 2025 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law.
Born in Claxton, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Osby Brooks Mitchell and the late Ada Lannigan Mitchell. Mrs. Ulmer was a member of First Christian Church. She retired after 37 years with H&R Block and afterwards worked part-time for them for 8 years. Mrs. Ulmer passed the Enrolled Agent Exam for the Internal Revenue Service in 1995.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, MSgt. Leron Lawrence Mitchell Sr., US Air Force (Ret.) and Slaton Mitchell
Surviving are; a daughter, Deborah Joy Ulmer Forbes and husband, Tim of Rincon, Georgia; a son, Antonio “Tono” Ulmer and his wife, Tracy of Stafford, Virginia; a niece whom they reared, Julie Ann Mitchell Oliver and husband, Wayne of Rincon, Georgia; five grandchildren, Chrissie Forbes Hutchinson (Rob), James Forbes (Loyce), Amanda Ulmer Grimes (Zach), Alex Ulmer and Weston Oliver; great-children, Griffin Williams, Wyatt Grimes, Jackson Grimes, Kayce Grimes, Carter Forbes and Bryson Forbes; many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends Friday, February 28, 2025, from 12 noon until 1 o’clock in the afternoon at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah, Georgia 31405.
Funeral services will follow at 1 o’clock in the afternoon in the Chapel of Gamble Funeral Service. Reverend Jason Talsness. Interment in Forest Lawn Memory Garden, Savannah, Georgia.
