Christine Francis Johnson born April 13, 1939 to Nelver Marie Guillot and Christopher Franklin Watkins in Shreveport Louisiana. Her family moved from Louisiana to Charleston where her father worked in the shipyards during WW2. They then moved to Savannah, Ga where she lived the rest of her life.
She graduated St Vincents High School and Candler Nursing School. She married the love of her life Joseph Lewis Johnson on December 8, 1961. They were married 53 years until his passing on May 15, 2015. She never recovered from the loss of her beloved husband. Earlier in life she was an RN and worked as nurse at St Joseph's, Candler, and Memorial Hospitals for 30 years in the ER and Labor and Delivery Departments.
She loved her family and especially loved her grandchildren. She always had a soft spot for children and loved being a grandmother. She enjoyed going to Crescent Beach and Disney with her family. Before suffering a back injury, she was active and adventuresome. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are their two daughters, Julia Sheehan of Atlanta, and Jennifer Keel and her husband, Jimmy, of Riceboro; one son, Joseph Cary Johnson and his wife, Charlotte, of Savannah; eight grandchildren, Jonathan Sheehan and his wife Jennifer, Matthew Sheehan and his wife, Danielle, Timothy Sheehan and his wife, Megan, Taylor Smith, Alex Smith, Tori Smith, Joshua Johnson and Amanda Youngblood and her husband Chris Youngblood ; seven great-grandchildren, and her sisters Brenda Scarborough and Naomi Watkins, MD and her brother, Maurice Watkins.
