It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Charlie D. “Randy” Harrell who died
peacefully in his home surrounded by his family just before sunrise on Monday, January 29,
2024. Born on January 8, 1955 in Albany, Georgia, Randy lived a meaningful and amazing life, a
full life right up to the very end- always choosing what was good and compassionate and right.
He was employed as a financial analyst by several different companies. Following his interests
and giving back to the community, he also worked as a baseball coach, basketball referee, sports
reporter, baseball umpire, basketball coach, and league manager.
Randy is predeceased by his parents, John Parker Harrell and Lessie Clark Harrell, his
granddaughter Alice Parker Wells, as well as his brother Ron Harrell, brother-in-law Robert
Caldwell. Randy is survived by his wife Charlene Taylor Harrell who shared his life for 41
blessed years. He is also survived by his daughter Stephanie Wells with son-in-law Doug and
grandson William “Liam”, daughter Sarah Richardson with son-in-law Owen and grandson
Walker, and son Charlie (Hannah) as well his sister Bridget Caldwell, sister-in-law Christine Taylor Kiley, a niece, several nephews, and loyal friends.
A visitation will be held in remembrance of Randy from 5-7pm on Wednesday January 31 at
Gamble Funeral Home. Randy’s memorial service will also be held at Gamble Funeral Home at
11am on Thursday February 1.
