Charles Earnest 'Chuck' Ogden, Jr., 60, of Savannah, Georgia, was called to heaven Wednesday morning, January 28, 2015, at St. Joseph's Hospital after a very long battle with COPD and lung cancer.



Born on April 7, 1954, in Savannah, Georgia, he was the son of the late Charles Earnest Ogden, Sr. and the late Betty Laverne Stringer Ogden. Chuck was a Catholic. He attended Nativity of our Lord Catholic School, Johnson High School and graduated from Savannah Tech's Auto Paint and Body program. Chuck had been co-owner of Ogden and Son Fire Extinguisher Company on Broughton Street with his father for many years. He had been disabled the last 31 years of his life. In happier times, Chuck enjoyed taking long walks thru the parks downtown and visiting with his children, especially his grandchildren, whom he cherished He also loved his life long friends. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need and in his own way was a spiritual person. Chuck believed in the good in all people and everyone was a friend. He never met a stranger.



In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jessie Thomas Ogden.



Surviving are three children, Tiffany April Ogden of Savannah, Charles 'Chuck' Darell Ogden of Palm Coast, Florida, and, Steven Kristopher Schweinhart of Holly Hill, Florida; two sisters, Michelle 'Mikie' Mangan and her husband, Charlie, of Greyson, Georgia, Katrina Jewell of Richmond Hill; seven grandchildren, John Michael Hobbs, Jason Patrick Hobbs, AnaGrace 'Gracie' Kristina Ogden, Charles Darell 'C. J.' Ogden, Kayla Mikell Ogden, J.C. Ogden and Cameron Schweinhart; four nieces, and a number of aunts and uncles.



The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 Friday evening at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.



The funeral service will be held at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Dr. Dewain E. Smith. Interment, beside his dearly missed mother, Betty, will be in Bonaventure Cemetery.
