Charles 'Charlie' Everett Metts, 80, of Savannah, Georgia, and widower of Carolyn Murphy Metts, died Monday afternoon, August 10, 2015, at Oxton Court of Savannah.
Born in Willacoochee, Georgia, he was a son of the late James Everett Metts and the late Ruth Giddens Metts. Charlie was a Christian. He worked for the United States Department of Agriculture for 35 years and then for Chick-fil-A for 10 years. Charlie and Carolyn owned and operated Sincerely Yours Travel Agency. He enjoyed spending time with his family, dancing and traveling.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Hilda 'Heidi' Metts Dober.
Surviving are two daughters, Karen Metts Cheong and her husband, Robert, of Louisville, Kentucky and Cindy Metts Knight of Savannah, Georgia; one son, Kerry Metts of Atlanta, Georgia; two sisters, Hazel Davis and her husband, Lynn, and Debra McGee, all of Savannah, Georgia; four grandchildren, Ashley Leightenheimer and her husband, Jesse, Jessica Homan and her husband, Ben, Ryan Cheong and Whitney Cheong; four great-grandchildren, Zach, Asher, Rowan and Emma, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 Thursday evening at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 1 o'clock Friday afternoon in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
