SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Charles William Bacon, Jr., 54, of Savannah, Georgia, died Friday, October 28, 2011, at St. Joseph's Hospital after an extended illness.
Charles was a Christian; he loved the Lord with all of his heart. He was an inspiration of how to live by faith and not by sight. He enjoyed playing the guitar, singing, writing music and spending time with his family and friends. He did volunteer work for the Salvation Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles William Bacon, Sr. and Eleanor Marjorie Bacon, and a nephew, Timothy R. Hale, Jr.
Survivors include his daughters, Dana Marene Bacon of Fernandina Beach, Florida, and Brittany Leigh Bacon Loper of St. Mary's, Georgia; one brother, Peyton Robert Bacon, Sr. of Savannah; three sisters, Paula B. Smoak of Savannah, Teresa Hale (Tim) of Mississippi, and Robin Thompson (James) of Mississippi; two granddaughters, Chloe Jaylee Loper and Kaylee Renae Nettles of St. Mary's, Georgia; eleven nieces and nephews, and many other relatives.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Monday evening at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service. Interment will be in Hillcrest Abbey - West.
Active pallbearers will be Hunter Smoak, Adam Hale, Peyton Bacon, Jr., Michael Smith, Mike Williams and Jarrad Weiss.
Honorary pallbearer will be Ricky Ogle.
