Carroll Eugene 'Gene' Clifton III, also known as 'Lil Gene', 'Young Gene', 'G3', 'LG', 'Geno' and 'Genie Boy', 43, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away Friday evening, November 4, 2022.
Born in Charleston, South Carolina, he was a son of Carroll Eugene 'Big Gene' Clifton, Jr., and the late Lizzie Mae Arey Clifton. Gene was a 1997 graduate from Jenkins High School. Previously a law enforcement officer for the Bryan County Sheriff's Department and the Port Wentworth Police Department, Gene came back to the family business, working as a construction manager for CE Clifton, Sr. Construction. A lovable man and prankster, anyone who met him was immediately charmed by his big personality. Gene was a hard-worker and very determined. It did not matter the problem, he would not quit until it was resolved. A very caring soul, if a person needed something, Gene would figure out a way to make it happen. His son, Riley, was his whole world. He enjoyed playing catch and football with both his son, nephew, and the neighborhood children. Gene's nephew, Johnathan, looked at him like a second father. He will be deeply missed.
