Carolyn Stewart, 71, of Savannah, Georgia, died Wednesday morning, October 6, 2021, at her home.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Alfonso Stewart and the late Ethel Lee Hines Stewart. She was a graduate of Thompkins High School, Class of 1968. Carolyn was a member of the First African Baptist Church. She was a retired EKG Technician and Nurse Assistant who worked for Candler Hospital and later Hospice Savannah. She was also a member of the Eastern Stars. Carolyn will be remembered for her love for people and as an avid Georgia Southern Football fan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Peter Stewart, Alfonso Stewart, and a half-brother.
Survivors include her long time companion, Susan G. Gunter; one sister, Rosa Lee Stewart; three brothers, George Stewart and his wife, Delores, Samuel A. Stewart, Jr. and his wife, Grace, and James Henry Stewart and Jimmy Oliver; nieces and nephews, and a host of dear friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock, Monday evening, October 11, 2021 at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at the graveside, Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
