Carole S. Whitfield

December 29, 1939 — March 29, 2025

Carole was born in Miami, Florida on December 29, 1939, to Dolly P. and D. A. Smith. She met our Lord on March 29, 2025. While at Florida Southern College she met and married her college sweetheart, Bill Whitfield. Before Bill’s passing, they were married for 56 years. Carole was actively involved with the community as a member of the Rosiland Club, officer in the Junior League of Orlando-Winter Park, and was also very active with the PTA of Lake Highland Preparatory School. She helped found the Zeta Tau Alpha chapter at University of Central Florida. Carole had many lifelong friends and was loved by all who knew her due to her kind and caring nature. Her commitment to her family made it natural for her to be a homemaker while her children were growing up. Once her children were adults, Carole sold real estate in the Orlando-Winter Park area. Carole had a deep faith and was always actively involved with her church.

Carole was predeceased by her parents, Dolly P. and D. A. Smith; her husband, William K. Whitfield III, and her son Kenneth D. Whitfield.

She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Wanda W. and Karl D. Bohnstedt, Sr.; her granddaughter, Margaret Ann Bohnstedt and fiancé L. Murphy Branson, V; her grandson and his wife, Karl “Dane” Bohnstedt, Jr. and Christian H. Bohnstedt; and her great-grandchildren Whitfield “Whit” L. Bohnstedt, and Elouise M. Bohnstedt.

The memorial service for Carole will be held at Christ Church Episcopal, 28 Bull St. Savannah, Georgia on Friday, April 4th at 2 o'clock in the afternoon.
