Carol Ann Rosenthal Shear, 67, of Metairie, Louisiana and formerly of Savannah, Georgia, wife of Alan Shear, died Friday afternoon, June 5, 2015, at her home after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Abram Isaac Rosenthal and the late Evelyn Goldberg Rosenthal. Mrs. Shear was a member of Congregation Bnai Brith Jacob. She graduated from Savannah High School and later from the University of Georgia, where she was a member of Delta Phi Epsilon. Carol taught art in the Louisiana public school system until she joined her husband in the family business. She devoted her life to her family and will be remembered for her ever-present smile, her sweet disposition, and her kindness to others.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Joslyn Rosenthal.
Surviving are her husband of almost 46 years, Alan Shear; their two children, Stacey Samler and Jay Shear; her siblings, Lois Rosenstein and Dr. Sanford I. 'Sandy' Rosenthal and his wife, Nancy; the apple of Carol's eye, her granddaughter, Emmie Samler, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by Rabbi Avigdor Slatus.
