On the morning of July 15, 2022, Carlton Rudolph Kemp, Sr. began his eternal life in Heaven.



He was born in Swainsboro, Georgia on August 20, 1933 to Kidd and Annie Mae Douglas Kemp. He spent his formative years in Metter, Georgia. He was a graduate of Pulaski High School and Armstrong Junior College.



Prior to receiving his degree in accounting, he served as a cryptographer in the U.S. Army at Fort Ritchie, Maryland. He relocated to Savannah, to begin his career as an Industrial entrepreneur. After a short time working for Bearings and Drives, he went on to build successful businesses; Bearings and Industrial Supply, Industrial Conveyor Belt Services, and Carlco Trucking.



Carlton was an active member of his community and White Bluff United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, rooting for the Braves, cheering for his grandchildrens sports teams, and having a Chick-fil-A sandwich with sweet tea.



He is survived by his devoted wife of almost 42 years, Carol Powell Kemp; sons, Michael Kemp (Debra Brook), Carlton Kemp, Jr. (Lynne); stepsons, Marion Alexander (Sarah), Barry Alexander (Traci), David Alexander (Jackie); grandchildren, Anderson Kemp (Natalie Luti), Graham Kemp (Kyler Rose), Allyson Kemp (Savannah Fritz), Megan Kemp, Stephanie Lawson (Shane), Westley Alexander (Lindsey), Ashley Cusatis (Jonathan), Jordan Gardner (Andrew), Blake Alexander (Amanda), and Delton Rushing; great-grandchildren, Katherine Cusatis, Eleanor Lawson, and Ellis Alexander; siblings, Bobby Kemp, Annette Bruner, Joyce Franklin (Ned), and Edna Brinson; several nieces and nephews and former wife, Eva Berger Kemp.



In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Karen Underwood Kemp and brothers, W.R. Kemp and Alton Kemp.



A celebration of Carlton's life will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at 11:00 in the morning at White Bluff United Methodist Church, 11911 White Bluff Road, Savannah, GA 31419.



Pallbearers are Westley Alexander, Anderson Kemp, Blake Alexander, Graham Kemp, Allyson Kemp, and Megan Kemp.



The family would like to thank all the physicians and caregivers that were an integral part of Carlton's medical care. A special recognition for Dr. Robert King, Dr. David Oliver, and Dr. Bhavesh Patel, as well as the staffs of Helping Hands and Hospice of Savannah for their compassion and exceptional care.
