SAVANNAH, GA - Candis Patricia McGovern Griner, 79, of Savannah, Georgia, widow of Joseph Lester Griner, died Wednesday afternoon, June 3, 2009, at Hospice Savannah.
Born in Pearson, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Henry McGovern and the late Lula Frances Douglas McGovern. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was a homemaker. Candis was preceded in death by her daughter, Laura Frances Griner Deloach.
Surviving are her daughter, Penny Patricia Griner Hall and her husband Danny of Savannah, Georgia; one sister, Betty Bazemore; one brother, Housan McGovern and his wife Mavis; a sister in-law, Loriane McGovern all of Pearson, Georgia; son in-law, Davis Deloach; four grandchildren, Laura Pearson-Jones and her husband Greg, Allison Hall, Daniel Hall and his wife Carrie, Joseph Deloach all of Savannah, Georgia; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Friday at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Saturday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Suzanne Cole Wages and Pastor Steve Angel. Interment will be in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park - East.
