Betty Guiler Malcomb

d. February 22, 2014

Betty Guiler Malcomb, age 88, of Savannah passed away Friday, February 21, 2014 at Savannah Square.

She spent her youth and young adulthood in Clarksburg, West Virginia, where she met and married the late SGM Larry Jack Malcomb, US Army (RET).

She loved and embraced being a military wife and the military life style, traveling and living throughout the United States and Europe during her husband\'s thirty year Army career. In 1992 they retired to Fairborn, Ohio, near Wright Patterson Air Force Base after forty five years of traveling with the Army and Air Force.

She was an advocate and role model for young military wives. At Fort Carson, Colorado Springs, Colorado she was the Chairperson for a Committee with the NCO Enlisted Wives\' Club that enabled countless young women to complete their high school diplomas at a local high school. These young military wives also received college scholarships to further their educations. ??She claimed this endeavor as one of her proudest achievements.

She worked and volunteered with a variety of organizations on military posts wherever she lived, serving in positions as President, secretary, mentor; always leaving each place better then she found it.

She retired from a civil service career as the Chief Telephone Operator at Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center in Aurora Colorado. ??She loved good music, entertaining, was a fantastic cook, and never met a stranger. She will be missed for her kindness, her generosity, and most of all her personality. She lit up any room she entered.

The joys of her life were her three daughters; who she said were her best accomplishments and her legacy. She has mourned the recent loss of her youngest daughter, Larralee Sue Pratt. After this profound loss, in December 2012, she moved to Savannah, GA. She quickly became an honorary member of the Savannah BPO Elks Lodge 183 who welcomed her with gracious, open arms.

She was a Parishioner of Saint Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Savannah, GA. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her two loving daughters; ??Jackie (Tom) Curran of Savannah, Ga and Candy (Joe)Clifford of Murfreesboro TN; four grandchildren Brad Curran, Megan Curran Holley, Jeff Clifford, ??and Cass Patrick Pratt II; two great grandchildren Lucas Gabriel Curran-Holley and Jack Clifford. She is also survived by her beloved son-in-law Cass Pratt, widower of her daughter, Larralee, of Fairborn, Ohio and her beloved nephew Bill (Maritza) Snyder and daughter Carla of Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Burial will be officiated by Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church at Fairfield Cemetery in Fairborn, Ohio at a later date.
