SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Betty Faye Harper, 76, of Savannah, Georgia, died Saturday evening, March 31, 2012, at Memorial University Medical Center.
Born in Claxton, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Walcer Evans Harper and the late Vernnie Mae Yarbrough Harper. Miss Harper was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church. She earned her B.S. degree in Sociology from Mount Saint Agnes in Baltimore, Maryland and her nursing degree from St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing. Miss Harper spent most of her career as a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital. She later worked for Memorial University Medical Center and as a home healthcare nurse for senior citizens. Miss Harper was a true advocate for the care of animals.
Surviving are her sister, Lavern H. Riley of Savannah, Georgia; her brother, Wayne Evans Harper of Savannah, Georgia; her niece, Paige R. May; her three nephews, Eldred Alan Riley III, Paul A. Riley and Brian E. Riley, and six great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 Tuesday at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning at the graveside, Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
