Betty Rhodes Griffin, 83, of Savannah, Georgia and wife of Wylie Britton Griffin, Jr., died Tuesday morning, June 11, 2013 at Hospice Savannah.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Edward Rhodes and the late Verna Cook Blackburn. Mrs. Griffin was a member of St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church in Richmond Hill. She was a homemaker who also did volunteer work for the Savannah Chamber of Commerce for more than 15 years. Mrs. Griffin enjoyed painting and spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Wylie Britton Griffin, Jr. of Savannah; one daughter, Jan Northington and her husband, Dan, of Greensboro, Georgia; four sons, Britt Griffin and his wife, Susan, and Lang Griffin, all of Savannah, Robert H. Griffin of Bayonne, New Jersey, and Carr Griffin and his wife, Rene?? of Raleigh, North Carolina; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and one brother, Jerry Blackburn of Seneca, South Carolina.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Thursday at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Friday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Dr. C. Clark Hubbard. Interment will be private.
