SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Bernice Angeline Ervin, 85, of Savannah, Georgia, and formerly of North Carolina, died Saturday morning, November 28, 2009, at Azalealand Nursing Home.
Born in Forsyth County, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Robert Lee Ervin and the late Myrtle Augusta Sheets Ervin. Miss Ervin was a member of Bull Street Baptist Church and a former member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Conover, North Carolina. She was a retired nursing assistant at Snyder's Rest Home in Lenoir. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Iris Baker.
Surviving are five sisters, Hazel Martin of Long Beach, North Carolina, Nina Fletcher and her husband, Harold, of Knoxville, Tennessee, Patricia Hughes and her husband, Arnold, of Savannah, Georgia, and Barbara Stewart and her husband, Shelton, of Greenwood, South Carolina; two brothers, Robert Lee Ervin, Jr. and his wife, Aggie, of St. Augustine, Florida, and Ralph Stephen Ervin and his wife, Aileen, of Lincoln, Nebraska.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend R. Calvin Fowler III and The Reverend William E. Gardner. Interment will be in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
