Bennie C. Smith, 77, and wife of Emery C. Smith, Jr., died Saturday, February 2, 2019 in Savannah, Georgia surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born in Great Falls, South Carolina to Lewis Cowart and Susie Waters Cowart. After moving to Savannah, she met Emery and they were married on June 3, 1961 upon his discharge from the Air Force Reserves.
Bennie was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, and enjoyed playing bingo.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, David; sisters Marcille Cowart Ingram, Myra Cowart Smith, and Catherine Cowart Miltiades.
Bennie is survived by her husband of 58 years, Emery C. Smith, Jr; daughters Susan Park and husband Frank and Jennifer Palmer; grandchildren Ella, Sarah, and Madison Park, Kevin Jr., Karrine, Kennedy and Kaylynne Palmer; sister Francies Bennett.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 12:00 noon Saturday February 16, 2019 at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.?? A graveside service will follow at Bonaventure Cemetery at 12:30 in the afternoon conducted by the Reverend Andrea Santurian .
