OKATIE, SOUTH CAROLINA - Bemis Paschal Howell, 87, of Okatie, South Carolina, widower of Lois Lee Howell, went to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, April 3, 2011, at Candler Hospital in Savannah.
Born in Bryan County, Georgia, he was a son of the late John Esmond Howell and the late Mittie Shuman Howell. Mr. Howell was a faithful servant of the Lord and a member of Red Dam Baptist Church in Hardeeville, South Carolina. He retired after 39 years as a Kaymare operator at Union Camp. Mr. Howell was a devoted husband and father who loved his family.
Surviving are; one daughter, Martha Collis and her husband, Dennis, of Eatonton, Georgia; two sons, Frederick Paul Howell and his wife, Mary, of Adel, Georgia, and Charles Bemis Howell and his wife, Jane, of Waynesboro, Georgia; five grandchildren, Jonathan Howell, Jeremy Howell, Renee Rowell, Julie Maddox and Kim Howell; five great-grandchildren, Ashley Manley, Field Manley, John Manley, Nellie Maddox, Mattie Maddox, Evelyn Ruth Howell and one sister, Mittie Newman of Ellabell, Georgia.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Tuesday evening at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah.
Funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Kevin Crosby. Interment will be in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park - East.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Newman, Richard Davis, Boyce Davis, Randy Davis, Field Manley and John Manley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Bumgardner and Author Cooler.
