Basil Sandler, age 97, passed away peacefully on May 17th, 2022, in Hilton Head, SC.
Basil was born to Israel and Sonya Sandler on April 23rd, 1925 In Johannesburg, South Africa and immigrated to the United States in 1998. He was a devoted husband and family man, a successful businessman, and an avid golfer into his nineties. Above all, he was guided by an unwavering moral compass.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved son Michael and his sisters Hazel and Clarice.
He is survived by his wife of almost 69 years, Joy (nee Chipkin); his sons Daniel (Helese)of Savannah, GA, Robert (Benita) of Potomac, MD, and Anthony (Nancy) of Bethesda, MD; his grandchildren Josh, Jessica (Ben), Tarryn (Guy), Gabi, Ryan, Michelle, Alexis, Claire, and Jake; and his great grandchildren Calder, Ocean, David, and Noah.
He was a wonderful role model to us all and he will be greatly missed.
The funeral service will be held at 12 noon Thursday, May 19, 2022, at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, officiated by Rabbi Avigdor Slatus.
