Barbara Ann Kahn Silver passed peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of Sunday, 28 July 2024 with her husband of 72 years at her side. She was 92. Barbara was born on 27 April 1932 in Savannah, GA, to Ruth Eichholz (Savannah, 1909-Atlanta, 1988) and Julian Kahn (Lexington, KY). Her father abandoned his wife and infant daughter never to be seen again. But if being fatherless was a disadvantage Barbara was blissfully unaware for she was raised up in the home of her loving grandparents Rose Raskin (Belarus, 1871-Savannah, 1963) and Selig Eichholz (Neiderelsungen, Landkreis Kassel, Hessen, 1866-Savannah, 1966) and was reared by four doting aunts: Betty (Miller), Caroline (Jacobs), Jean(Mopper) and Maizie. Barbara attended Anderson Street School, Savannah High (1949) and was an Art major at the University of Alabama and University of Georgia. She was also a lifelong student of piano. Barbara married the only man she ever loved, Murray Mendel Silver (Savannah, 1929) on 19 December 1951. They had two sons: Murray Jr (Savannah, 1953) and Eric Carl (Savannah, 1958; wife Joan}. Barbara was buried next to the Eichholz family in Bonaventure Cemetery on 1 August 2024, Rabbi Robert Haas officiating.
