SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Barbara Ann Schafersman Shiver, 49, of Savannah, Georgia, wife of Dannie D. Shiver, died Sunday afternoon, June 14, 2009, at Candler Hospital.
Born in Memmelsdorf, Germany, she was a daughter of Christa Kroll Schafersman and the late Joe H. Schafersman. Barbara was a member of Southside Baptist Church and worked for fifteen years as an office manager at Memorial University Medical Center. She was currently a private postal carrier in Savannah.
Surviving are her husband of twenty-one years, Dannie D. Shiver; one daughter, Ashley Shiver Blitch and her husband, Jud, of Augusta, Georgia; one son, Jordan Shiver of Savannah, Georgia; her mother, Christa Kroll Schafersman of Hinesville, Georgia; one sister, Vera Mobley and her husband, Ronny, of Hinesville, Georgia; one brother, Bernd Hoyer of Germany; two brothers in-law, Noel Bernie Shiver and his wife, Vickie, of Adel, Georgia, and Dr. Ronnie L. Shiver and his wife, Brenda Joy, of Valdosta, Georgia; three nieces, Christina Varnedoe and her husband, Carl, of Macon, Georgia, Kathryn Shiver Surrency and Brook Shiver; three nephews, Travis Mobley and his wife, Brittney, of Hinesville, Georgia, Brent Bloser and Nathan Buckley Shiver; two great-nieces, Mary Mobley Varnedoe and Jade Bloser, and five great-nephews, Cooper Mobley, Gunner Mobley, Austin Bloser, Ethan Surrency and Atley Surrency.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Wednesday at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Thursday morning in Southside Baptist Church conducted by The Reverend Dr. Allan W. Bosson. Interment will be in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
