Barbara J. Settzo, 62, of Savannah passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, March 21, 2015.
Born in Buffalo, New York, Barbara grew up in White Plains, New York. After graduating from the State University New York at Fredonia, Barbara returned to White Plains where she worked in the appraisal department of a local bank, eventually starting her own residential real estate appraisal business. Additionally, she was the office manager and corporate relocation coordinator for a White Plains real estate company. In the early 1990's, she threw caution to the wind, sold her condominium, and moved to Savannah, a city she loved for over 20 years. After 12 years working in the Admissions Department for Savannah College of Art and Design, she took another great leap and started her own Administrative Services firm, Assistance For You, which she ran successfully for 10 years.
Barbara was a life-long active member of the Christian Science church serving in numerous positions throughout the years, most recently as the First Reader of the Savannah Christian Science Church.
She is survived by her sister Carolyn Settzo (Jim O\'Reilly), brother Alan Settzo (Anne Marie Foran), stepmother Mary Evelyn (Mel) Settzo, and Mel's children William Buckingham, Jr. , Whitney Hinely (Paul), Whitney's family Amanda, Christopher, Addisyn, Annistyn and Carter Hinely, and Barbara's beautiful cat Grace.
She was predeceased by her parents, Kenneth and Jane Settzo.
The family would also like to thank Hospice Savannah and the caregivers of Comfort Keepers for the exceptional care they provided to Barbara and family.
A memorial service will be held at 11 o\'clock Saturday morning, April 18, 2015, at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
