SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Augusta Montague Glover, 87, of Savannah, Georgia, widow of Carr Sullivan Glover III, died Wednesday morning, December 2, 2009, at The Place at Pooler.
Born in Birmingham, Alabama, she was a daughter of the late Ralph Rodney Montague and the late RosaLee Foster Montague Thorpe. Mrs. Glover graduated from Armstrong College in 1942 with an associate of arts degree, The University of Georgia in 1945 with an AB in Sociology, and Tulane University in 1949 with a degree in social work. She was employed with the Chatham County School system for over fifteen years and worked as a social worker and as a special education school teacher. Mrs. Glover also worked as a real estate agent for several years. She was a member of Lutheran Church of Ascension and served as past Sunday School Superintendent. Mrs. Glover was a member of Augsburg Sunday School Class, the Rebecca Derrick Circle and a member of the Wymberly Garden Club.
Surviving are two daughters, Caroline A. Glover of Savannah, Georgia, and Mary Glover Renew and her husband, James, of Pembroke, Georgia; one son, C. Harold Glover of Savannah, Georgia; two grandchildren, Jennifer Lee Hughes and her husband, Michael of Guyton, Georgia, and J. Erik Renew of Pembroke, Georgia; one brother, R.E. "Sonny" Thorpe, Jr. and his wife, Dale, of Savannah, Georgia, her sister in-law, Martha Autry of Macon, Georgia and four nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Friday at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Saturday morning in the Lutheran Church of the Ascension conducted by The Reverend Dr. William H. Roen and The Reverend John H. Ohsiek, Jr. Interment will be in Bonaventure Cemetery.
