Arthur 'Art' Francis Zimney, age 92, died Sunday August 30th at 8:30 P.M. at Lakeside Nursing Home in East Peoria, IL. He attended La Salle Peru High School and La Salle Peru Ogelsby Junior College. While in high school and college he had singing leads in various operettas.
He joined Certainteed sales organization in 1952. After four years, he worked at Lumberyard Suppliers, Inc in Peoria, Illinois. He also worked at Bramlet & Co for 15 years, where he won awards for top sales. Art moved to Savannah, Georgia following this employment and was a member of the Thirteenth Colony Barbershop chorus. He also sang in men\'s choir at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist and was a senior adult altar server along with being an extraordinary Eucharistic Minister.
Art was preceded in death by his brothers, Reverend Robert Zimney, George Zimney of Chicago and sisters, Paula, Mary and Jane of Lasalle, Illinois, parents Helena and Anthony of LaSalle and his loving wife, Gloria Kennedy Zimney in 2003.
He is survived by his daughter Sharon, of East Peoria, Illinois; sons William of East Peoria, John of Savannah, Georgia; grandchildren, Jason and Eric Sary of East Peoria, along with four great-grandchildren Evan, Hayden, Jeffrey and Gabriella Sary.
Dad will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning, September 30, 2020 at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist ' 222 East Harris Street, conducted by the Reverend J. Gerard Schreck. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Abbey West on Dean Forest Road.
