Arthur F. Sigman, a resident of Buckingham South and a former resident of Toledo, Ohio, died on January 11, 2015 at Hospice Savannah.
Born in Detroit on April 6, 1926 to Mary (Cousins) and Samuel Sigman, Art was raised in Toledo, where he graduated from Scott High School. He enlisted in the Army Air Force for World War II and served with the 509th Composite Group at Roswell Army Air Field, New Mexico. After completing his military service he attended The Ohio State University on the G.I. Bill. He was a member of Zeta Beta Tau and received a degree in business administration. He served as general manager and vice president of his family's business, Cousins Iron & Metal, for nearly 30 years and subsequently worked as a sales representative for Parker Steel. He was a longtime member of Temple Shomer Emunim, where his mother, Mary Sigman, served as administrator for 40 years.
Art was selflessly devoted to his family, encouraging and supporting his children in all manner of educational and cultural endeavors. He and his wife Toby, who died in 2008 shortly after their 50th wedding anniversary, enjoyed theatre, movies, museums and the symphony and traveled widely.
He is survived by his four children: Shari (Chris) Miltiades, Steven (Carolyn) Sigman, Matthew (Collin Glidewell) Sigman, Claire (Sharon McNeil) Sigman, and seven grandchildren: Victor Miltiades, Mary Miltiades, David Sigman, Benjamin Sigman, Samuel Sigman, Emily Sigman and Joseph Sigman.
