ARON GIRARD WEINER

AUGUST 15, 1936 ' AUGUST 20, 2016

Aron was born in Savannah, GA to his devoted parents, David and Hilda Perlman Weiner. At a young age, his father encouraged him in business enterprise. At age 17, he acquired his famous Tybee float stand which he ran for 25 years, using his earnings for college and law school. He often laughed that he earned more from the float stand in 3 months than he did in his early years as a young attorney.

Aron was a natural athlete, playing for the downtown JEA in many sports, but his true talent was in basketball, which he played while at Savannah High School and at Armstrong Jr. College. He also enjoyed racquetball, golf and downhill skiing.

Aron graduated from UGA, where he was a member of the TEP fraternity. He graduated law school from UGA and received an LLM from NYU. He, Ernie Friedman and Nelson Haslam formed the Friedman, Haslam & Weiner law firm, which is now known as Weiner, Shearouse, Weitz, Greenberg & Shawe. The firm celebrated 55 years of practice this year. Aron specialized in probate, business, real estate and estate planning. He served as the County Guardian and Administrator for Chatham County Probate Court since 1965, and also previously served as the Chatham County Recorder's Court Pro Tem Judge. He was renowned for his work ethic and integrity.

Aron served on the advisory boards of several local financial institutions, including the original Bank South, First Liberty Bank, BB&T, Bank of the South, The Coastal Bank, and the current BankSouth. He also served as Chairman of the Chatham Urban Transit Study Advisory Committee. In the1970\'s, Aron entered the field of real estate development in the historic district and built numerous townhomes and apartments.

Aron was a lifelong member of BB Jacob Synagogue where he served as President from 1989-1991. He was blessed to have had an active and wonderful life.

Aron was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Carol Myers.
