Arnold W. Hughes, 86, of Savannah, Georgia and widower of Patricia 'Pat' Ervin Hughes, died Tuesday morning, January 7, 2020, at his home and under the care of Spanish Oaks Hospice and his amazing caregivers.



Born in Savannah, Georgia, he was a son of the late Pete Hughes and the late Flossie Mae Lanier Hughes. He grew up in Ash Branch, Georgia. Arnold was a longstanding member of Bull Street Baptist Church. He was a United States Navy veteran. Arnold was happily retired from Georgia Ports Authority where he was a crane operator.



In addition to his wife, Patricia 'Pat' Ervin Hughes, and his parents, Pete and Flossie Mae Lanier Hughes, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace Hughes and Carolyn Denmark and her husband, Alton.



Surviving is a niece Arletta Wilson (Larry).



The family will receive friends from 11 until 12 o'clock Saturday at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.



The funeral service will be held at 12 noon Saturday in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by the Reverend William E. Gardner, the Reverend R. Calvin Fowler and the Reverend Dr. Drew Corbett. Interment will be at the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery conducted by the Reverend William E. Gardner.
