Arlene Neufeld Steinfeldt, 78, of Savannah, Georgia, and wife of Dr. Michel 'Mike' Franklin Steinfeldt, died Thursday afternoon, March 5, 2020, at Memorial University Medical Center.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Thelma Neufeld. She grew up in Hewlett, New York. Arlene graduated from Leslie College in Cambridge, Massachusetts with a degree in Education.
Arlene excelled in tennis and won many championships over her 35-year tennis career. She also excelled at bridge, obtaining the title of Silver Life Master. Arlene and Mike loved playing and competing in many bridge tournaments together.
Arlene was a member of Congregation Mickve Israel and a founding member and former president of The Jewish Women of the Landings.
Arlene, a breast cancer survivor, was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease at the age of 62. With Mike at her side, and the love and support of her many friends, she fought the disease with courage, grace and determination.
Arlene's generosity was boundless. She will be remembered as a caring, outgoing person who loved entertaining and being surrounded by her friends and family.
Survivors include her husband of fifteen years, Dr. Michel 'Mike' Franklin Steinfeldt; son, Dr. Andrew Berens; daughters, Dr. Lisa Scott (Andrew), Carolyn Slipakoff (David); grandchildren, Cameron and Colby Berens, Talia, Baden, and Landon Scott, and Avery and Ben Slipakoff and Connor Bennett; a brother, Dr. Laurence Neufeld (Dede), and their children, Michael, George, and Daniel; a sister, Dr. Elizabeth Neufeld and her children, Zachary and Jessica Boven. She will also be greatly missed by her step-children, David, Lisa, and Daniel, her step-grandchildren, Ray, Rebecca, Rachel, Jacob, and Gabriel, and her many other nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Sunday morning, at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by Rabbi Robert W. Haas.
