Anthony James Martin, 33, of Savannah, Georgia, died Sunday evening, October 26, 2014, at Candler Hospital.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, he was a son of Captain Rocco Anthony Martin, U. S. Army (Ret.) and the late Elizabeth Reid Johnson Martin. Anthony was of the Christian faith. He was a world class weightlifter who had participated with several international teams, and was also a United States Junior National Martial Arts Champion. Anthony was a very talented residential carpenter. He was a devoted and loving family man who truly adored his two daughters, Morgan and Alana.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by an uncle, Harmon Johnson.
Survivors include two daughters, Morgan Cheyenne Martin and Alana Elizabeth Martin of Savannah, Georgia; his father, Captain Rocco Anthony Martin, U. S. Army (Ret.) of Savannah, Georgia; one brother, Michael Thomas Martin of Savannah, Georgia, and his aunts and uncles, James Leslie Johnson, Barbara Martin, Gunder and Julie Kirkeberg, and Jan Johnson.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 12 o'clock Saturday morning at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 12 o'clock Saturday in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by Pastor David C. Stanton. Interment will be in Bonaventure Cemetery.
