Anne Marie Broderick, 54, of Savannah, Georgia, died peacefully on December 20, 2019 after a lengthy battle with dementia. Born on May 28, 1965 in Savannah, Georgia, Anne Marie was the daughter of the late Dr. J. Reid Broderick, Jr. and the late Hildegarde Bergen Broderick.
Anne Marie graduated from Blessed Sacrament School and St. Andrews High School, attended Brenau College, and graduated from Armstrong State College with a BS in Health Sciences.
Anne Marie worked in her father's medical practice until his retirement in 1995. She then worked at St. Joseph's/Chandler until 2012, when her illness began to take hold. Shortly thereafter, she became a victim of disability exploitation and neglect until 2015, when neighbors notified family and she was moved to a safe and caring environment.
When she was young, Anne Marie enjoyed going to the beach, riding her bike, and boating. In 2003, Anne Marie welcomed the arrival of her daughter, Ashlee Marie. Anne Marie was a wonderful and devoted mother to Ashlee, and the two became a team, enjoying many bike rides and beach trips on Tybee, traveling with Ashlee's gymnastics team, and visiting with family and their many friends. Her favorite vices were margaritas and snickers bars, but not together.
Surviving are her daughter, Ashlee Giardino of Register, Georgia; brothers, Kevin Broderick and his wife, Virginia of Savannah, and Mark Broderick of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina; and several nieces and cousins.
Anne Marie's family wishes to express its gratitude for the care and dignity given to Anne Marie by her caregivers at Habersham House and Hospice Savannah.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 o'clock Thursday, December 26, 2019, at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue, with the memorial service immediately following at 7 o'clock. Interment will be at 11 o'clock Friday morning, December 27, 2019, at the Catholic Cemetery.
Remembrances: In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Reid Broderick Music Scholarship established at St. Vincent's Academy - 207 E. Liberty Street, Savannah, GA 31401.
