Ann Waddell Callaway, 70, of Springfield, Georgia and wife of Avery Leo Callaway, died Monday morning, April 29, 2013, at Memorial University Medical Center.



Born in Elkin, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late James Eli Waddell and the late Mattie Mae Marsh Waddell. Mrs. Callaway was a member of Islands Community Church in Savannah. She retired as manager of Clifton's Dry Cleaners in Savannah after 20 years. Mrs. Callaway loved her grandchildren and her work. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Taylor Shane Magee and Whitney Jade Newman.



Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Avery Leo Callaway; one daughter, Sandra Newman; two sons, Terry Callaway (Cheryl) and Johnny Callaway; eight grandchildren, Jamie Newman (Brittney), Jacob Newman (Stephanie), Joshua Callaway, Tyler Magee, Stephanie Meadows, Laura Callaway, Terri Callaway and Megan Callaway, and twelve great-grandchildren, Kellie Newman, Jamie Newman, Haley Newman, Zoey Newman, David Newman, Logan Newman, Jacob Newman, Jr., Kelby Key, Kloey Key, Kiley Key, Lilly Presnell, Natalie Jade Presnell; a new great grandson, Mason, to be born at the end of August to Megan and Levi; one sister, Betty Waggoner and her husband, Alphord, and three brothers, Sam Waddell and his wife, Audry, Jack Waddell and his wife, Wanda, and Billy Waddell and his wife, Wilma.



The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 Friday evening at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah.



The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Saturday morning at Islands Community Church ' 111 Walthour Road, Savannah, conducted by The Reverend M. Douglas Patterson and Sam O'Neal. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
