Anita 'Nita' Pierce Campbell, 68, of Savannah, Georgia, wife of Thomas Allen Campbell and devoted mother to Jennifer and Allyson, died Monday morning, June 8, 2015, at her home surrounded by her loving family.



Born in Americus, Georgia, she was a daughter of Edna Day Pierce and the late Lamar Pierce, Jr. Nita was of the Christian faith. She retired from the Savannah-Chatham County Public School after teaching for many years and being a tireless advocate for her students with learning disabilities. In 1981, she and Tom started Kids Helping Kids, a toy drive collecting used toys for underprivileged children.



Nita loved to travel and planned wonderful trips for her family showing them the beauty of the world. Her favorite places to visit were the beach and Sydney, Australia where she spent some of her childhood. Most important to Nita was the love she had for her family. The laughter, love, and experiences she gave to her family will forever be cherished.



Surviving are her husband of 46 years, Thomas 'Tom' Allen Campbell of Savannah, Georgia; two daughters, Jennifer Campbell Boles and her husband, Rob, of Savannah, Georgia, and Allyson Campbell Dixon and her husband, Matt, of Charlotte, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Bryson Campbell Boles, Connor Pierce Boles, and Madyson Brianne Dixon; her mother, Edna Day Pierce of Sydney, Australia and Savannah, Georgia; one sister, Wendy Bragg and her husband, John, of Tybee Island, Georgia; one brother, D. Scott Pierce of Los Angeles, California, and three nephews, Brian Cail and his wife, Emily, Matthew Cail and his fianc?? Danyse Solomons, and Donovan Bragg.



The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Thursday evening at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.



The memorial service will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at The Unitarian Universalist Church of Savannah conducted by The Reverend David H. Messner.
