Andrew Holm Taylor

d. April 18, 2022

Andrew Holm 'Weegee' Taylor came into this world like a firecracker on the 4th of July in 1932. Born to Alice Holm Taylor and W. E. Taylor, he was a lifelong resident of Savannah, Georgia. Weegee died peacefully at his home on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022. He graduated from Savannah High School, served in the Navy during the Korean War, and attended Armstrong College. While attending a business conference in Atlanta for the Burroughs Corporation, he met the love of his life, Carol McMahan. They were married on February 16, 1957 and spent 52 wonderful and loving years together until her death in 2009. They raised their family in Savannah (primarily Isle of Hope) and Weegee truly loved the water having grown up on Shipyard Creek. He was an avid fisherman and worked the majority of his life on the riverfront as a Stevedore Supervisor before retiring. Weegee and Carol loved Georgia football. They spent their Saturdays cheering on the Dawgs and traveled to every home game for many years. During the off season, they loved traveling with their friends and took many a road trip. Another one of Weegee's passions was grilling and preparing outdoor seafood family dinners. Whether it was boiled crabs, low country boil, an oyster roast, his famous grilled rotisserie chicken, or his and Carol's Friday night special steak dinner, he loved good food with even better company.

Weegee is preceded in death by both his parents; two brothers, (Jack and Billy Taylor); his beloved wife, Carol; and a great-granddaughter, Alice Parker Wells.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Christine Kiley and Charlene Harrell (Randy); three granddaughters ' Stephanie Wells (Doug), Sarah Richardson (Owen) and Taylor Kiley; two grandsons ' Jackson Kiley (Kendal) and Charlie Harrell as well as a great-grandson, Walker Richardson; a brother, (Bubba Taylor) and many nieces and nephews. Weegee was one of a kind and will be greatly missed by those who loved him!

The family also wishes to thank all the 'ladies' who took such wonderful care of our loved one - especially Miss Debbie, Miss Liz, Miss Mary, and Miss Hollye.
