SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Amy Coker Vestal, 58, of Savannah, Georgia, wife of Joe Vestal, died Monday evening, January 4, 2010, at Memorial Health University Medical Center.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late George Coker and the late Roseanne Hammock Coker. Amy was a member of the Kirk O' the Isles Presbyterian Church (PCA). In Atlanta, she was a sales manager for Upjohn Pharmaceuticals and a commercial real estate broker.
In 1998, Joe and Amy moved to Savannah. Amy's interests in politics lead her to become very active in the local Republican Party. Amy was a member and past vice president of the Savannah Area Republican Women's Club. In 2000, she was named volunteer of the year for the Chatham County Republican Party. She served as the Chatham County delegate to the Republican National Convention in 2000 and attended the first inauguration of President George W. Bush. Amy was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and worked as a fund raiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Joseph "Joe" C. Vestal of Savannah, Georgia; his mother Pansy Vestal of Jonesville, North Carolina and their 11 year old puppy, Molly Girl Vestal, of Savannah, Georgia. As an only child, her cousins and friends were Amy's family, of which there are too many to name.
The family will receive friends from 5 o'clock until 7 o'clock Thursday at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Friday morning in the Kirk O' the Isles Presbyterian Church conducted by The Reverend Dr. Neil C. Stewart. Interment will be in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
