Alexandra Gregorakos Petakos, 71, of North Lauderdale, Florida and wife of Taso Petakos, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, June 6, 2014, at her home.
She was born a daughter of the late Charles Gregorakos and the late Mary Gregorakos on December 2, 1942, in Bronx, New York. Her parents were the founders of the very first pizza restaurant in Savannah, the historic Mr. Pizza on Broughton Street.
Surviving are her husband of 50 years Taso Petakos; three children, Paula, Catherine and Peter Petakos; seven grandchildren; one brother, Michael Gregorakos, and numerous cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Friday evening at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue, with the Trisagion service being held at 7 o'clock in the funeral home chapel.
The funeral service will be held at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon at St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church conducted by Father Vasile Mihai. Interment will be in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
