Albert G. Kirby, 84, of Savannah, Georgia and widower of Susie Belle Gordy Kirby, died Monday evening, October 26, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family and under the care of Gentiva Hospice.
Born in Bulloch County, he was a son of the late Charles and Francis Kirby. Mr. Kirby was a lifetime member of Central Baptist Church in Garden City. He served in the United States Marine Corps and retired from Arcadian Fertilizer Company as a Chemical Operator with over thirty-five years of service. Surviving are two daughters, Catherine L. Kirby and her significant other, John H. Williams, Jr., and Cynthia D. Cowart and her husband, Anthony, all of Savannah, Georgia; two sons, John W. Kirby and his wife, Melissa, of High Point, North Carolina, and Charles M. 'Mike' Kirby and his wife, Sandra, of Gonzales, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Julie Ann Royce, Christopher Kirby Cowart, Leeann Emily Kirby, John Eric Kirby and Noah Boutin Kirby; one great-grandson, Joshua Wade Kirby.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 o'clock at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The Funeral will be at 11 o'clock Friday in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service with the Reverend John H. Williams, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery near Statesboro.
